My Background

I graduated in the Class of 2006 from Montrose Area High School in Montrose, Pennsylvania, which is in the northeast corner of the state. While I was in high school I attended Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Band festivals for 3 years, qualifying to the Regional level. I was Key Club President for 3 years, Drum Major for 3 years, and 4-H Cowboys & Cubbers Horse Club President. I was involved with the French Club, Art Club, Concert Choir, Concert Band, Northern Tier Community Band, National Honors Society, French National Honors Society, and AP Club. I was also active in dancing at the Helene Yelverton Dance Studio for 13 years, and 3 of those years were spent as a Dance Demonstrator to other students. I have competed in dance for 8 years and have won titles for both my solo and group performances.

I came to Penn State in the fall of 2006 as a Mathematics Education major. I decided over Thanksgiving Break that Math was not a major I could be interested in for the rest of my life. I auditioned for the School of Music in January and began Clarinet lessons in February. During the Fall semester of 2007 I began my Music Education classes and am currently on the track to becoming a Music Educator.

Here at Penn State I am involved in many different organizations. I am a member of Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association (PCMEA), Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU), Penn State's Marching Blue Band, Clarinet Choir, and Symphonic Band.
